This year Gloucestershire County Cricket Club will be playing in division one of the LV County Championship taking on the best in the quest to take home the prestigious CC trophy.
We caught up with M&H family members James Bracey and Tom Lace who discussed the campaign and their hopes and expectations for the season.
“We had a discussion as a group and we feel we have got a great chance of doing well this season in all competitions,” Bracey said. “Our new coach Dale has come in and set us goals to achieve, which we feel are attainable providing we work hard as a unit.”
As much as cricket is a team game, individual goals are always important. For Bracey, building on from a positive trip down under with the Lions, is key. “I want to stay on the park all summer and create some match winning innings in all formats,” Bracey said.
Lace expressed his feelings on the new season by saying “We have made some great overseas signings for the 2022 season; this has given us the squad depth we need to perform in all competitions.
“The bowler’s workloads have become lower in a positive way and there is healthy competition for the batters, enabling us to be performing on a consistent basis throughout the season.”
Furthermore, Lace spoke about his season ambitions and his mentality going into the new campaign. “For me it’s what you want to achieve, and this starts in training.”
“It’s important as a squad we don’t go through the motions, we’ve got to train and play with an intensity that cannot be matched. This is something I think everyone should take to training no matter the level.”
Gloucestershire begin their season away to Northamptonshire on Thursday the 7th of April, eager to put their hard work in practice throughout the 2022 season.
