Jack Leach in India

Jack Leach in India

Jack, the second test is over. How are you feeling personally, and how is the mood in the camp?

Yeah from a personal point of view, I feel very positive. I feel like I'm getting better and stronger with every game. I would have liked a few more wickets, but India played well. They came back very strongly, which we expected. They are a very good side and have quality players. They applied themselves very well in the conditions. But with the series level at 1-1, there is still everything to play for. We are looking forward to getting to Ahmedabad which will be a change of scenery, and obviously, a day/night test with the pink ball may offer a few differences. I think if we can improve some areas from the second test, and start the next one well with either bat or ball, we have every chance of a positive result. With Sri Lanka included, you have been away for a while now.

How has the support and following been from home?

Yeah, the support back home has been amazing. Definitely great to have the cricket on terrestrial TV again via Channel 4. It reminds me of so when I used to watch test cricket as a kid, so it's good that it is accessible to so many people. We have received so many positive messages and people wishing us well. Obviously, we are conscious of what is going on back home, and hopefully we can continue to play some good cricket to give people something to look forward to.

Your first experience of a series in India, and your first experience of a home crowd. How was it?

Yes. Obviously for this game there were supporters allowed in the ground for the first time. It was fantastic to play in front of spectators again. It was my first experience of an Indian crowd and it was nice to see how passionately the fans support their team. They are a proud nation who are incredibly passionate about cricket, and have a great understanding of the game. They were obviously very excited to have cricket back, so a good first experience for me.

So looking forward to the third test then?

Yeah. I have played four games now and I can really feel the benefits of getting more overs under the belt in a competitive situation. I am just really happy to playing again, and feel that my match rhythm is starting to come back. The chance to play in a day/night test is very exciting, and hopefully I will be able to contribute to a great England win.

Well Jack, we wish you and the boys all the best for the next test. Go well!
