Reincarnating the Flying Geese

Reincarnating the Flying Geese

2022 saw the rebirth of the Flying Geese, and like a phoenix rising from the ashes it was a spectacle to behold! If you enjoy playing sociable cricket and would like to join our team then please head over to the Flying Geese page here, and sign up today.

On the 19th of August 2022 the reincarnated Flying Geese embarked on their inaugural tour to Stowaway music festival. Set in the idyllic Buckinghamshire countryside, the festival creates a perfect weekend escape from the trappings of the modern world. The hand-selected members of the Flying Geese squad thoroughly embraced this, having a weekend filled with music, comedy, and bottomless brunch! On the final day of the festival, the gaggle took on a renowned Blackpit Brewery XI in a quirky-style T20 match. Taking place in a specially created area of the festival and billed as the main event of the weekend, the team turned out in front of a 700 strong crowd to show the world what the Flying Geese are made of. The day’s highlights included streakers and some fabulous performances by both our pros and customers. The match ended with the Flying Geese opening their winning tally!

The next challenge came in the form of a T10 tournament on the famous island of Ibiza! On the morning of the 14th of October 2022, the Flying Geese squad left Bristol Airport with the destination of the Blau Park 4* hotel in San Antonio, Ibiza. The trip included three games of cricket, with the boys taking on Ibiza Town Cricket Club, London New Zealanders, and The Pilgrims Cricket Club in a 2 day tournament. Cold refreshments and a stunning BBQ were served on both days from by the hosting cricket club. Highlights included excellent performances by customers Richard, Callum, and Peter as well as a new Ibiza club record of 1000 beers being purchased from the bar! Following both days of cricket, the squad ventured out to see what other entertainment Ibiza has to offer; they weren’t disappointed! With no cricket on the final day, relaxation was needed. The tour came to an end with a morning flight back to Bristol. A memorable weekend was had by all, and we can’t wait to go back and play again next year!

Remember, whatever your cricketing ability is, whether you bat 11 for your local Sunday side or open the bowling for your Saturday league team, there is always a place for you in the Flying Geese team. Please get in touch via the Flying Geese page, found here.
