Warwickshire and M&H family member Hamza Sheikh is one of the most exciting young batsmen coming through the county system right now. The 16-year-old top order batsman has had an impressive Summer, he signed his first professional contract with Warwickshire, made his List A debut in the Royal London one-day cup, and even better was 12th man for the England Test at Edgbaston against India.
Sheikh’s stock is rising, and with his continued development who knows where he will be this time next year. Speaking on his success, specifically his List A debut, Sheikh said, “It was really exciting to make my first team debut, especially at home at Edgbaston.”
“To have been a part of the Warwickshire academy since I was nine years old, to make my first team debut now. I only hope this is the start of good things to come.”
“I want to keep improving my game so I am able to create memorable performances which will create more first team opportunities and chances for myself.”
Hamza joined the M&H family at the beginning of this Summer, after playing with fellow M&H family member Jake Lintott at Knowle & Dorridge Cricket Club in the Birmingham Premier League. Hamza, after putting pen to paper, opted to use the C100 profile, a profile very popular with our young, sponsored players.
“I really like the design of the C100 as the balance and pickup are perfect for someone like myself, I like the lightweight pickup with big edges, this gives me the best opportunity to score runs all around the ground.”
M&H owner Robert Chambers spoke on Hamza’s success by saying: “It’s great to have Hamza on board and doing so well with Warwickshire.”
“For someone of his age to be having the success he is having, it is great to see and we look forward to supporting him on his journey over the next few years.”
